Outline of the Course Aims

Not far from Dunmanway is the charming cottage workshop of basket weaver Katrin Schwart. Enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge of willow and basketmaking, she gives 1- and 2- day courses for small groups ( 1 or 2 people) throughout the year.
On the 1-day course: she will assist you in making a round tray, based on the traditional ciseóg, which was used for draining and serving cooked potatoes.
On the 2-day course: you will be making a small market basket as well.
A walk to the willow beds with information on varieties and their cultivation will be part of the course. The fee includes all materials and a light lunch. Wear comfortable clothing and, if you can, bring a pair of sharp secateurs.
