Kumihimo
Outline of the Course Aims
This art dates back to the 7th or 8th century A. D. where kumihimo braids were used on Samurai armour and Japanese costumes, as well as for religious and decorative purposes.
At this workshop you will learn how to set up a marudai (the most commonly used of the stools), and working with 8 and 16 bobbins will learn how to make beautiful braids useful for jewellery or for use in embellishing accessories, embroidery or soft furnishings.
